Bleachery Article Published

Through efforts of The Hive, the Bleachery marketing team has contacted multiple economic development and commercial real estate organizations to spread word of the Bleachery project. Of most recently, contact was made with Southeast Discovery, an organization who provides “timely real estate news you can use regarding areas and developments in the southeast”. Southeast Discovery also deals with retirement communities and real estate in Columbia, South Carolina. Through contact with Marian Schaffer, principal and founder of Southeast Discovery, The Hive was able to have an article written about the Bleachery redevelopment project, raising awareness on the web.

The article goes into detail regarding development information of The Bleachery, Rock Hill, and Old Town. The Hive and our efforts are also mentioned at the beginning of the article, stating our involvement with the Bleachery project.

With the help Southeast Discovery, the Bleachery redevelopment project is one step closer to getting its name viral and establishing a stronger online presence.

What do you hope to get from this experience? I hope to further improve the skills I have obtained not only through the courses I’ve taken at Winthrop, but also those I have gained through my work experience at internships and related jobs. In addition, I would like to use this opportunity to establish new and strong connection with professionals in the Rock Hill and Charlotte area.
What project are you most excited to be working on? In general, I am excited to be a part of any of the projects because they are all benefiting the community in great and unique ways. However, I think I will enjoy the ICYC project the most because of my family background and personal experiences with helping non-English speaking individuals.
What skills do you bring to the team? I have had some experience with design and development, but my strongest skills are that of business and marketing. Also, I am pretty familiar with WordPress. I can work on some SEO projects, but I do not consider myself an expert.

What do you hope to get from this experience? I hope to gain real world experience with actual clients in order to build my portfolio and experience. Another cool aspect of this experience to me is to see how a web team comes together based on their skills and talents to make something great!
What project are you most excited to be working on? I’m most excited about the Friendship 9 site mainly because of the great story behind these 9 guys. I enjoy storytelling through writing, and I would be extremely honored to be a part of helping tell their story to the nation.
What skills do you bring to the team? My background is in the Mass Communication area, so naturally this covers a lot. This includes conceptualizing through not just writing, but video and other interactive media – laying them out and organizing their execution and post-production (not so much the actual production). I also enjoy and excel at design layout.

What do you hope to get from this experience? I hope this experience will prepare me for real world work atmosphere and teach a social/team element of programming not learned often classes. Also I hope to make new friends!!
What project are you most excited to be working on? I have a feeling that the Friendship 9 will present the most challenging (and rewarding) ideas, so I think I’m the most excited about that.(For instance that “interactive timeline” idea being tossed around.)
